A Drawdown Georgia Grantee Story
Across Georgia, community-based organizations are advancing climate solutions in meaningful, people-centered ways, from neighborhood composting hubs and home weatherization projects to clinician-led health advocacy and clean energy workforce training. These grassroots efforts are improving public health, lowering energy burdens, creating new economic pathways, and equipping communities with the knowledge and tools to lead.

Drawdown Georgia Climate Solutions & Equity Grants in Action
Staff and trustees from the Ray C. Anderson Foundation, The R. Howard Dobbs, Jr. Foundation and the Reilly Family Fund recently visited Concerned Citizens of Cook County, a Drawdown Georgia Climate Solutions & Equity Grantee that is working with Georgia Interfaith Power & Light (GIPL) to provide education about the energy landscape in South Georgia, implement clean energy and energy-efficient alternatives, and provide resources and technical assistance so that individuals and congregations can access upgrades and services to reduce energy burdens.

Plant-Based Diet Initiative
Staff and trustees from the Ray C. Anderson Foundation, The R. Howard Dobbs, Jr. Foundation and the Reilly Family Fund recently visited Thomasville Community Development Corporation, a Drawdown Georgia Climate Solutions & Equity Grantee that is implementing plant-based diet options for seniors and helping provide sustainable systems for getting locally grown, fresh, healthy food into neighborhoods that have been designated as food deserts.

The Ray C. Anderson Foundation recently visited Athens Land Trust, a Drawdown Georgia Climate Solutions & Equity Grantee. They received a two year grant in 2023-24 for energy efficiency improvements and workforce development programs in previously disinvested neighborhoods in Athens-Clarke County, Georgia.
