I get why bears hibernate. Slowing down from time-to-time is a necessity, and I’ve felt that need most acutely in 2022. It’s essentially been the year when the world opened back up, and while that’s come with some incredible blessings, it’s also taken some readjustment. We’ve all been readjusting on the fly, and I for one am grateful for the opportunity to unplug for a couple of weeks as the year comes to a close. That’s a big part of why my last post of the year is a short one!
I also know that not everyone can fully unplug this time of year. So many people have to keep working away, because they need to for themselves and families or because society needs them to. I honor that, and I’m grateful for it. If you are one of those people who can’t rest this time of year, then I hope you are able to early in 2023. We all need it.
So here at the end of another lap around the sun, I want to encourage you to slow down as much as you can. Soak up time with your loved ones. Tell them that you love them, and show them too. And may all of the magic of this season renew your spirit and desire to keep doing the work of healing this planet, and the communities who call it home.
